Aurora Central High School Class of 1972

He was born March 26, 1954, the son of Wayne E. Newquist and Mildred O. Newquist, in Grand Island, Neb. The family resided in Peoria, Ill., for a number of years and then moved to Aurora, Colo., where he graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1972. He earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from LeTourneau College in 1976 and in January 1976, he married Ruth Dahlstrom.

He accepted a position at U.S. Geological Survey and moved to Casper. He transferred to the Department of Energy in 1980.

He had a passion for family, friends and church. His hobbies included trains, plains, photography, astronomy and bicycling until his health failed.

He was a member of Oil Capital Auto Club and enjoyed driving his red Fiero in parades and cruises. He was active in his church, where he liked to help with maintenance.

He was an avid sports fan of the Denver Broncos and Wyoming Cavalry.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years of Casper, his older brother, David Newquist of Taiwan and his wife; two children, Philip Newquist and his wife of Augusta, Maine, and Esther Newquist of Casper; a nephew and his wife and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
