Anna Doyle Date of Death: May 2023 David Barnett posted the following news on the Class FB page about our Classmate Anna Doyle. I am sad to share the news that I have lost another high school classmate and dear friend. Anna Doyle unexpectedly passed away at the end of May at her home. Her cause of death is still unknown. I did not meet Anna until our Aurora Central High years. Anna appeared in a number of Central's school plays (in "Hamlet" as Gertrude, in "The Odd Couple" as Gwendolyn Pigeon, and in the title role of Molly in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown." She was a sculpture major at Colorado State University. After college, she did a stint as an instructional aide in the Cherry Creek school district teaching art and drama. That was before she decided to follow her long-time dream of becoming a police officer. After graduating from the police academy, Anna worked as a patrol officer, followed by stints in undercover sting, in dispatch, as a juvenile intake officer, as a composite artist, and then as a Technician in the I.D. Bureau. She met her beloved husband, Patrick, when he was a firefighter at a homicide/arson scene (so romantic!). Anna lived in Denver with Patrick and various dogs. Sadly, Patrick passed suddenly in February 2014. Before her death, Anna had retired from the police department and was able to spend time enjoying her dogs; following the Broncos (she babysat for one of their players and took me to a game -- our seats were on the 50th yard line about six rows up -- amazing); pursuing her interests in astronomy, science fiction; knitting; and various other passions. Anna was cremated yesterday. The family has not yet written an obituary or planned a memorial, though some of her fellow police officers are trying to put one together to honor her memory. |
